After raising the price of its NFL Sunday Ticket package last season, this year DirecTV is dropping it back down for current subscribers, to just $199. Of course, most of the impetus for the price drop is probably because so many current subs are people who signed up for the service last season with Sunday Ticket as a freebie, but we're sure regular customers will gladly keep the cash in their pockets. Another change for the 2012 season is the NFL Sunday Ticket Max package, which includes all the extras of SuperFan and To-Go (RedZone Channel, streaming to iOS and Android mobile devices, Short Cuts, VOD highlights, etc.) extras as a part of the bundle for an extra $100 to existing customers, or for $299.95. This is interesting news, instead of giving a good value to their customers; DirecTV has given them a less expensive, less flashy Sunday Ticket tier. They took out the perks of Sunday ticket like RedZone and streaming and put them on the expensive side. Do you think this is because of the thousands of people that received the free promotion last year, how many of those people do you think forgot that is was set for auto renewal? This season I am going to employ my picture in picture on my new receiver from Dish, The hopper. I can watch my Bronco’s on one tuner, and the RedZone on the other tuner. That way I can follow my game and the best plays from across the league on Sunday, something that DirecTV subs will only be able to do with the high tier package. With my new shift at DISH I won’t have to wait to watch Peyton Manning and the Bronco’s make a season out of it, except when they play on Monday. Since I have 500 hours of HD recording time on my Hopper though I don’t think I’m going to have to worry about not being able to record the game whenever I want.
